Discovery Kit
The discovery kit is aimed at helping a customer quickly understand how, why and where a given Project/Program or System is experiencing trouble and how to address and resolve the problems. However, unlike problems addressed by the Rescue Kit, immediate assistance in terms of days or hours isn’t required. This allows for a brief period to review the issues and apply corrective action.
Specific Steps and Tools Include:
- Project and or Program Assessment and Evaluation
- Conduct interviews with key Project Management personnel to identify project concerns
and the overall state of the Program
- Identification of general communication problems, immediate problems concerning issues and schedules
- Evaluation
of risk state in terms of cost, schedule, control, feature/functionality
- Assessment of Political and Organizational issues
- Consensus
with project sponsors
- Full report of problem areas and action plans needed to pursue and implement the project
- Rapid response action
plan
- Monitor invocation of rapid response plan
